Doctor Biography

Brigadier General (Professor) Mohammad Ismail Hossain completed his MBBS from Sher-E-Bangla Medical College. After completion of his Internship he joined in Army Medical Corps in 1994. He served in various capacities of Armed Forces in home and abroad. He started his residency training in Ophthalmology at Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka and obtained Graded Specialist in Ophthalmology. Subsequently, he obtained Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO) from Dhaka University, MCPS and FCPS from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons. He qualified his FRCS (Edinburgh) part 1 in 2009 and part II in 2010. He was accoladed as Classified Specailist in Ophthalmology by Director General of Medical Services in 2009. He qualified ICO examination conducted by International Federation of Ophthalmological Society. He has completed ICO fellowship on Vitreo-Retina Surgery and Medicine from LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India and ICO-SAARC Fellowship from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. He has done post-graduate fellowship in Phaco surgery at Mahatma Eye Bank Eye Hospital, Nagpur, India and Bangladesh Trust Eye Hospital, Dhaka.Subsequently he achieved FACS from The American College of Surgeons and FRCS from The Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow

 

Prof. Brigadier General (Dr.) Ismail Hossain is now working as Professor- cum HOD, Ophthalmology Department, Armed Forces Medical College, Dhaka Cantonment and Vitreo-Retina surgeon in Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka Cantonment. He is a high volume phaco and vitreo-retina surgeon. He has several publications and presentations at national and international forum. He wrote two text books for undergraduate medical students.
