LASIK

TIRED OF GLASSES AND CONTACTS?

If you’re looking into LASIK vision correction, it’s probably because you don’t want to wear glasses or contact lenses any more. Sure, glasses can be a fashion statement, but they can also just get in the way. They’re a hassle during your favorite activities, and they block your beautiful eyes from the world. If they’re not getting smudged, they’re getting knocked off. Contacts show your eyes off, but they’ve got their own set of problems. All the supplies you have to buy, the constant cleaning procedures and checkups, lost lenses and allergies. Now, imagine life without contacts and glasses- the simplicity, the freedom to do what you want without worry. That’s what LASIK surgery can give you.

LASIK FOR OPTIMISED VISION

We know, LASIK can seem a bit scary at first – a laser pointed at your eye! But laser surgery is one of the safest and most common elective procedures. And, once you’ve had LASIK, your result may make you wish you’d gotten the procedure even sooner!

What is LASIK?

LASIK (Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is a surgical procedure which involves reshaping your cornea with laser to help improve eye sight. By creating a ‘door’ (which we call – Flap) on the surface of your eye, your surgeon can correct vision problems; this ‘door’ is then closed, and your eyes quickly heal on their own. The procedure is quick, safe and virtually painless.

IS LASER VISION CORRECTION RIGHT FOR YOU?

  • If you do not want to wear glasses or contact lens
  • Age more than 18 years.
  • Refractive power more than -1.00D or +1.00D
  • No change in power of glasses in last one year
  • No eye disease

Don’t forget to mention any other medical conditions you have, or any medications you might be taking, as they can affect surgery as well.

FAQ’s of LASIK

  1. How do I know if I can undergo the procedure?
  • Once you have decided that you want LASIK, we will run a series of tests to evaluate your vision. Your surgeon will then decide if LASIK is right for you.
  1. Is it a very long procedure?
  • While it is still a surgical procedure, the entire LASIK process is fast. Start to finish, LASIK only takes a few minutes.
  1. Any precautions for contact lens wearers?
  • You will need to stop wearing contact lenses at least a week before the procedure, as they can affect the shape of your eyes and therefore the outcome of surgery.
  1. How soon can I expect better vision?
  • Many people sit up right after surgery and notice dramatically better vision. Still, complete recovery can take time-weeks or months even-and much of the responsibility will be in your hands.
  1. What side effects can I expect after the procedure?
  • Immediately, after LASIK, you may experience a few side effects from the procedure, including watery eye, a burning sensation, or mild discomfort. These symptoms usually pass within the first few days. If you experience any severe pain, or vision worsens, contact your doctor immediately. During your first week of recovery, your vision may seem slightly hazy or blurry-you may also be sensitive to light or have trouble seeing at night. These symptoms usually clear as your eyes heal, but you may continue to experience slight fluctuations in your vision for up to 6 months after surgery.
  1. 6. The road to recovery.
  • Although we’d love to claim to all credit for your rapid recovery, most of it falls on you, and the amazing resilience of your eyes. Your eyes heal and adapt with surprising speed, but you can help the process along by closely following your surgeon’s instructions.

Femto-LASIK

Why Choose Femto-LASIK?

Femto-LASIK is a ‘bladeless procedure’ where only laser systems are used to cut the flap. It is thus a much more precise, predictable and safe method for creating the corneal ‘flap’ compared to the conventional microkeratome (‘blade’) flap. In addition to the increased safety during surgery, Femto-LASIK have vertical edges which ensure quicker and stronger healing as compared to microkeratome flaps which have sloping edges. This translates into a much less risk of displacement of the flaps in case of inadvertent injury to the eye. Quality of vision (i.e., crispness, contrast etc.) is also superior with Femto-LASIK because of the uniformly thick flaps and the smooth corneal bed.

ReLEx SMILE is a further advancement over LASIK / Femto-LASIK.

ReLex SMILE is a pain free, minimally invasive approach with the advantage of a 100% blade less and flapless laser vision correction. This procedure involves no corneal flaps; refractive changes are made in the intact cornea itself.

The very best for your eyes

  • Flapless
  • Bladeless
  • Painless

Unlike the conventional procedures, ReLex SMILE involves the creation of an extremely thin 3D layer in your intact cornea, corresponding to your refractive number that needs correction. This is then extracted out through a small keyhole incision of about 2-4mm only. As a result, the cornea gets reshaped to correspond to the ideal shape for correct vision. Entirely laser controlled, it is done in a few seconds- precise, safe and comfortable.

Lasik-The Big Day at Last!

Start to finish, LASIK only takes a few minutes, here’s the rundown:

  • After putting anesthetic eye drops your surgeon will begin LASIK by pulling back a thin layer of tissue from your cornea, exposing the underlying tissue so that your surgeon can more easily reshaped it so that it is closer to its ideal shape.
  • From there, your surgeon will apply small, rapid “bursts” of the laser to
carefully reshaped your cornea-flat areas may be made rounder, curved
    areas may be flattened etc.
  • The personalized “map” of your eyes will help guide the laser, making sure
you receive the precise treatment you need, while still maintaining an ideal,
    natural shape.
  • Once your eyes have been reshaped, the doctor will put the outer layer of
tissue back into place, where it acts as natural “bandage”. No need for
    stitches here!

Pre-Operative Instruction

  • Find out the time & date of the surgery from the doctor.
  • Use antibiotic drops a day before surgery as prescribed by the doctor.
  • Report to the hospital in time.
  • Read the consent from and give your consent by putting your signature.
